Bridgestone Challenge at Heythrop Park
We are pleased to announce that Heythrop Park Resort will be hosting this years Bridgestone Challenge Tour from the 25th - 28th August 2016.
Situated in the Heart of Oxfordshire and since its completion in 2009 Heythrop Park Resort has always been considered to be one of the most fantastic layouts in the country.
This year will be the first time that the course has been chosen as a professional Challenge tour venue and is the first time since 2012 that the Tour has come to UK soil. This represents an exciting opportunity for not just Heythrop Park Resort but the golfing community in Oxfordshire and beyond also.
The Challenge Tour is a feeder for the full European Tour and has been used a stepping stone for the likes of Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer. This years tour will be televised by Sky Sports and will be featuring Walker Cup stars Jimmy Mullen and Eddie Pepperell.
Spectators are welcome to come and watch the 156 players (which are made up of the top 100 Challenge Tour players and the remaining players are made up of invites and top amateurs) compete for a prize fund of 180,000 euros.
Golf at Heythrop Park
Open 365 days of the year the Bainbridge Course at Heythrop Park was redesigned in 2009 by Tom MacKenzie the golf course architect responsible for many Open Championship venues. The 7088 yard par 72 course weaves throughout the 440 acre Heythrop estate and provides the perfect challenge for all golfers.
The 18 hole course meanders over ridges and through valleys that are studded with ancient woodland, lakes and streams. The course is quintessentially English and has several signature holes notably the 6th hole where the green nestles besides a fishing lake, the 14th which sweeps leftwards around an ancient woodland and the closing hole which is straight as a die and has the impressive mansion house as its backdrop.
Located 12 miles north of Oxford just outside Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds, Heythrop Park is within 90 minutes drive time of London and the Midlands, making us very accessible indeed.
On site, in addition to the Bainbridge golf course, we have a range of leisure facilities, Spa, gym, pool, steam room, sauna and a choice of 2 hotels: The Crowne Plaza Hotel and Heythrop Park.
